to try to determine today in jarrettsville. we will show you some of the damage. >> the idea of teenagers driving, probably keeps you up at night. stood a huge effort to keep your child safer. defense was depleted. that was a brutal game to watch. the ravens crumble against the texans what coach harbaugh has to say after a huge loss. thank you for joining us. i'm charley crowson. >> i'm megan pringle. we are breaking news, we are going to check in, in federal hill. first a check on the weather. breaking news, linda so is live this morning, early this morning, we got the word that there was a fire in federal hill. >> it's on battery avenue. we have been working to get crews to the scene. linda is there right now. are you with us? >> reporter: hi. >> go ahead. >> reporter: a lot of fire trucks on the scene. we are on riverside avenue.

this fire happened in the 1200 block of battery avenue, a street up, a block up there. firefighters about 80 of them are here now, trying to get the fire out. the fire is not out yet, it is under control. the problem here, is this home was filled with so much debris inside, a lot of clothing, wood, that it's really intensifying the fire. they are having a hard time putting it out. this broke out at 3:30 this morning. a 3-story row home. there was an elderly couple, their adult son, his wife, a 2 year old boy and a 4 year old girl, sleeping in the home when the fire happened. everyone was able to get out safely, they did suffer minor smoke inhalation and had to be taken to a nearby hospital, we are told their injuries are nonlife threatening. they will be okay. when firefighters arrived, they found intense fire, smoke, filling the home.

the problem is that fire is being ignited by the debris that's inside the home. one firefighter almost fell off a ladder and hurt his ankle. two dogs and birds that died in the fire. we spoke with a relative of the family that says they believe the fie started on the fliers -- fire started on the first floor. the smoke detectors were working. the fire spread to both sides. an active scene. we have 80 firefighters on scene trying to take this fire out. we are told that the smoke detectors were working. they will be on the scene for a couple of hours. several roads are blocked off. if you live in the area, expect roads to be closed near the 1200 h block of battery -- 1200 block of battery avenue. linda so, abc2 news.

now, maryland's most accurate forecast. >> we are definitely looking at plenty of sunshine as we go in through time. we are going to be seeing temperatures that are going to be on the chilly side this morning. let's start with the radar. we are looking at dry times ahead this morning. that's what is going to be the scenario. you don't need the rain gear. also, what we will be dealing with, temperatures on the cooler side this morning. we see what going on here, across the middle of the nations we will begin to warm up nicely. tomorrow, temperatures are going to warm things up. speaking of the temperatures, let's talk about what is going on this morning, close to home, we can see that we are definitely dealing with chilly temperatures this morning, columbia around 49 degrees. as we step in to edgemere, the temperature at 48 degrees as well. the dew point at 42, we have

looking at a 12 minute ride on the outer loop, 795, towards 895, this is what the beltway looks like, harford road. everything is moving along, 11 minutes to travel the outer loop, 95 up to 83. no concerns now, if you are using the jfx in to the city, 11 minutes to travel southbound from the beltway to fayette street. that's a look at your traffic. we will learn if a tornado touch donned in harford county -- touched down in harford county. >> sherrie johnson joins us with more on this. how bad was it? like there was one target. today, the national weather vis will determine if it was a tornado. don was the only one cleaning up storm damage this weekend, two large trees came down in his backyard, the tv antenna on his roof blew off and furniture

a scam is hitting homeowners across the country. >> joce sterman has the details. >> reporter: debby wanted to cut back on her electric bill. when someone offed a home energy audit, she agreed.

>> he presented himself as if he were an official welcomes w the state or city or local energy company. >> reporter: after a quick check of the attic, windows and doors , the auditor, turned on the hard sell and told the cats, they needed to buy a 4000- dollar solar blanket. >> i was mad that he misguided us. >> reporter: she was one victim of what the consumer federation of america calls an emerging energy audit scam. >> they make phone calls offering them free energy audits that will save them hundreds of dollars a month on their utility bills. >> reporter: the auditors often imply they are with a government agency or utility company. >> their real intent is to get in to consumer's homes and sell them heat barriers, that

actually don't save them any money at all. >> reporter: shotty work can be the result. these pictures were taken inside where investigators say the owner fell for a scam and paid the company to put in insulation. the contractor was unlicensed and never returned to finish the job. >> we have seen work, where people were not benefiting from the savings. >> reporter: phone solicitations for free home audits are among the fastest growing do not call list complaints. debby warns people selling can be persistent. >> the formula is that the people get in your house. once they are in your house, it is hard to get them out of the house. >> reporter: joce sterman, abc2 news. they offer free energy audits but most likely won't cold call for solicit you. contact the gas or electric company to set that up.
